Konference je pořádaná u příležitosti oslav ,,Dne Afriky“ Ministerstvem zahraničních věcí České republiky a ambasádami afrických zemí.
Afrika je kontinentem příležitostí a její role v globálním světě den ode dne roste. Stejně tak se zvyšuje potenciál pro spolupráci, kterého chce využít i Česká republika. Významné osobnosti a zajímaví hosté, nejen z afrického kontinentu, budou diskutovat o politických, ekonomických i bezpečnostních výzvách, kterým Afrika čelí v současnosti. Debata je rozdělena do tří panelů:
1. Politika dobrého sousedství: politické a bezpečnostní otázky ve vztazích mezi Afrikou a sousedními regiony
2. Rozvíjející se Afrika: dárcovství nebo ekonomické partnerství?
3. Příležitost: možnosti spolupráce mezi Českou republikou a africkými zeměmi
Konferenci doprovází řada akcí. V sobotu 20. 5. se na náměstí Václava Havla uskuteční tržiště BENSO či-li Afrika na Piazzettě, který zahajuje kulturní festival ,,Tvůrčí Afrika aneb Všichni jsme Afričani“. Dne 24. 5. proběhne veřejná debata v Knihovně Václava Havla na téma „Havel, Mandela a lidská práva v jihoafrické literatuře, divadle a realitě“. Ve stejný den se bude ve Francouzském institutu promítat dokumentární film v angličtině ,,Shashamane“.
Na konferenci je nutné se registrovat na odkazu "pro získání vstupenek". Vstup je zdarma.

The international conference is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in cooperation with African Embassies in Czechia.
Africa is a continent of opportunities and its role in the global world is rising. Similarly, its potential for cooperation in many areas keeps growing, and the Czech Republic is ready to establish well-balanced and sustainable partnerships with African countries. As the 5th EU-Africa Summit approaches, a number of distinguished guests from the African continent together with other accomplished international as well as Czech speakers will discuss political, economic and security challenges facing Africa today.
The programme of the Conference is divided into the following topic areas:
1. Good Neighbourhood: Political and Security Issues in the Relations between Africa
and its Neighbouring Regions
2. Africa Rising: Donorship or Economic Partnership?
3. Windows of Opportunity: Possibilities for Cooperation between the Czech Republic
and African Countries
The programme of the Conference will be accompanied by a series of events. On 20 May, there will be an open marketplace called BENSO – Africa at Piazzetta organised by the cultural festival “Creative Africa or We all are Africans” at Václav Havel Square. Then, on the eve of the Conference, a public debate at the Václav Havel Library will focus on the personalities of Václav Havel and Nelson Mandela and their concepts of human rights as reflected in South African Literature, Theatre and Reality. The debate will be followed by a screening of the English-language film ,,Shashamane” in the French Institute.
