Folk Marathon 2017/18 in Brno

We are bringing the Folk Marathon to Brno, CZ! Let's meet at the crossroads of the north, south, east and west of Europe, not only to celebrate the coming new year, but also to dance, play music and meet old friends as well as people who will become our new friends at the end of this four-night party.

When: 29th December 2017 - 2nd January 2018
Where: Brno, mostly in the city cetre

You can look forwad to:
- Music and dance workshops with great teachers
- Evening bals at great venues
- Music sessions in cosy pubs
- Space where participants can meet, relax, jam and simply chill and hang around
- An ultimate New Year's Eve Party, where you'll be able to choose how you want to celebrate while being under the same comfy roof as everyone else
- A romantic klandestina in the (hopefully) snowy city centre
- Affordable costs (including accommodation, food, public transport and all other expenses)
- A small but welcoming local balfolk scene with devoted team of organizers
- Accommodation provided in a common sleeping place, but with comfier options also available.

Brno is the second biggest city in the Czech Republic. It is only 150 km far from Vienna, 250 Km from Prague and 330 km from Krakow. It has several universities, a diverse cultural scene and it is set in the charming landscape of South Moravia.

Folk marathon is a volunteer-run event that takes place every year in a different European city. We welcome everyone and we want to create space for folkies and their New Year's Eve celebrations where they will feel good, happy and safe, no matter their background or where they come from.
The local balfolk society is called Ton Simple, our umbrella organization is YMCA Brno.
