Festival íránských filmů letos opět nabídne výběr výjimečných afghánských filmů. Hostkou večera v BIO | OKO bude režisérka filmu Sonita Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami. Zaměřuje se na „umění outsiderů“, aby diváky přiměla přemýšlet o drobných změnách. Sonita je její první celovečerní film, který si již vysloužil mezinárodní uznání a obdržel řadu prestižních cen po celém světě včetně ceny diváků na festivalu IDFA a Sundance.
Její snímek sleduje příběh Sonity, kterou i přes její útěk do Íránu čeká osud většiny afghánských dospívajících dívek, který pro ni zvolila její rodina – má být prodána jako nevěsta tomu, kdo dá nejvíc. Ale Sonitino srdce už dávno patří rapu a dívka je pevně odhodlaná prozpívat si cestu k úplně jinému osudu, o kterém už dávno sní.
Film Vlk a ovce režisérky Shahrbanoo Sadat, mimořádný a hypnotický celovečerní debut nejmladší z filmařů zastoupených na letošním ročníku, je citlivým vylíčením života skupiny vesnických dětí, jejich tajemství, nadějí a obav v horském prostředí, kde do života vesnice každý večer vstupuje stará lidová pověst o vlčí ženě.

This year's edition of Festiva of Iranian Films again offers selection of exceptional Afghan films. The director of Sonita Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami wil be the main guest of the Night of Afghan Films in BIO | OKO. In her work, she follows “outsider art” in order to make the audience think about small changes. Sonita is her first feature-length film, which is already gaining international acclaim and winning numerous prestigious awards around the globe, including Audience Awards at IDFA and Sundance.
Her film follows the story of Sonita. She fled to Iran, her fate, like that of every teenage Afghan girl, is in the hands of her family, and she is to be sold as a bride to the highest bidder. But Sonita’s heart already belongs to rap and she is determined to use her voice and to sing her way to a fate much closer to her own dreams.
Wolf and sheep by Shahrbanoo Sadat is a hypnotising and spectacular debut feature from the youngest filmmaker of this edition’s program, Wolf and Sheep portrays the delicate life of a group of young village kids, their secrets, their hopes and their fears in their mountainous whereabouts where an old folk legend of a wolf-woman leaps into the village life every night.
