Výstava LOOKING FOR THE EAST francouzské umělkyně Gaëlle Cressent a skupinová výstava SHELL GAME zahájí společně sezónu Galerie Kostka a Galerie MeetFactory. Během vernisážového večera se budou prolínat dvě myšlenky: spojení výtvarného umění a hudby, a idea hry, která si stejně jako umění pohrává s fikcí a představou důvěry vs. podvodu.

SHELL GAME
Shell Game je hra založená na triku a získané důvěře sázejících. Její pravidla jsou do velké míry založená na představě performance a participace. Hlavní protagonista – „operátor“ je v tajném vztahu se svými komplici, kteří předstírají, že jsou součástí publika. Tato skutečnost vtahuje do představení kohokoliv z obecenstva a činí z něj automaticky podezřelého ze spojenectví. Představení můžeme chápat jako metaforu víry v samotné umění, v to, co představuje a co v něm vidíme. K tomu odkazuje také název performance Romana Ondáka Sleight of Hand, která bude součástí skupinové výstavy autorů Jána Gašparoviče, Mateje Gavuly, Jonáše Grusky a Daniela Grúni – jako trik umělcovy ruky, hrající si s realitou...

LOOKING FOR THE EAST
Hudba a výtvarné umění se vždy pokoušely, společně nebo svárlivě, nově vymezit svá pole působnosti. A je to zajisté otázka hranic, teritoria, které umělkyně Gaëlle Cressent se svou vizuální instalací a zvukem nazývaným Hledání Východu představuje. V podobě mikro-události uspořádané v předvečer vernisáže, umělkyně nás noří zpátky do techno kultury, kterou objevila v polovině devadesátých let dvacátého století ve Francii, a jež uskutečňovala scénu inspirovanou free party.
Na vernisáži výstavy zahraje Groove Addiction představitel evropské technařské underground scény. Groove Addiction byl v 90.letech, kdy jezdil po evropských tekno festivalech a free party, znám pod jménem „Proton“. Od roku 2007 žije trvale v Praze.

Looking for the East exhibition by french artist Gaëlle Cressent and group exhibition Shell Game open together Kostka Gallery and MeetFactory Gallery season. Two ideas will be mingle during the vernissage evening: fusion of fine arts and music, and the idea of game playing with the fiction and conception of trust vs. fraud.

SHELL GAME
The shell game is a game based on a trick and a gained trust of bettors. To a considerable extent its rules are based on the ideas of performance and participation. The main protagonist – the “operator” is in a secret relationship with her accomplices who pretend to be a part of the audience. This fact draws anyone from the audience into the performance and makes her automatically a part of the suspicious alliance. We can understand the performance as a metaphor of trust in art itself, trust in what it stands for and what we see in it. To this fact also refers Roman Ondák´s performance Sleight of Hand, which is going to be a part of the group exhibition of the authors Ján Gašparovič, Matej Gavula, Jonáš Gruska and Daniel Grúň – as an artist’s trick playing with reality.

LOOKING FOR THE EAST
Music and visual art have always attempted, by accompanying or telescoping, to re-define the limits of their respective domains. And it is indeed the question of limit, territory that poses the artist Gaëlle Cressent with the visual installation and sound called Looking for the East. In the form of a micro event given on the evening of the vernissage, the artist plunges us back into the techno culture she discovered in the mid-90s in France, realizing a scene inspired by the Free Party.
Groove Addiction – representative of European Techno underground scene – will play on the versnissage. Artist (also known as Proton in 90´s) who performed at european tekno festivals and free parties in last years, has lived in Prague since 2007. delivering an effective and definitely happy live, mixing melodies and remixes but always spiced with a hard rythm.
