Jubilejní 20. ročník MFDF Ji.hlava odstartuje na jihlavském Masarykově náměstí, kde bude již dva týdny před zahájením festivalu otevřena výstava přibližující festivalovou historii i fenomén dokumentárního filmu. Speciální sekce Ji.hlavský manifest vrátí na plátna kin ikonické filmy uvedené v Jihlavě od roku 1997, kdy festival vznikl.
Do Ji.hlavy zavítá americký experimentální filmař Bill Morrison, program představí ruskou filmovou avantgardu i průřez islandskou kinematografií včetně režisérské masterclass islandské legendy Fridrika Thora Fridrikssona. Na pozvání MFDF Ji.hlava přijede do Česka jako host Inspiračního fóra americký psycholog Philip Zimbardo. Díky spolupráci s Horáckým divadlem Jihlava rozšíří festival počet kinosálů na osm.

Jihlava IDFF will mark its 20th anniversary with a special Jihlava Manifesto. As part of the project, audiences in Jihlava will again have the chance to see iconic films that have hit the festival screen since its start in 1997. Two weeks before the start of the festival, Jihlava’s Masaryk Square will witness the launch of an exhibition portraying the history of the Jihlava IDFF and the phenomenon of documentary filmmaking in general.
This year’s special edition will introduce Jihlava’s audiences to American experimental filmmaker Bill Morrison, Russian film avant-garde and a cross-section of Icelandic cinema including a director’s masterclass by Icelandic filmmaking legend Fridrik Thor Fridriksson. Among the guests of the unique Inspiration Forum will be American psychologist Dr. Philip Zimbardo. Thanks to the collaboration with the Horácké Theatre, the number of the screening venues will increase to eight.
